Charles Todd’s debut title was the 1994 novel A Test of Wills. It began the long-running and beloved Ian Rutledge historical mystery saga.

Ian Rutledge is a Scotland Yard inspector who has just returned from the front lines of World War I. He’s seen unthinkable death and destruction in the trenches and suffers from PTSD.
